BTCC XI vs President's XI - Sun 25 May 2014

In their Annual Presidents Day match Buckingham snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in a dramatic finish. Batting first on a difficult wet wicket Town made a poor start slumping to 65-6 with only Aussie Justin Frew (37) offering any resistance. Callum Price (25) improved matters and tailenders Lester Smart (22), Dom Pritchard (21no) and James Gear (19) saw Town set a modest total of 155. The President’s XI made a poor start and at 60-5 the match looked evenly poised.

Finmere CC vs Buckingham Town Sunday XI - Sun 18 May 2014

Buckingham Sunday XI beat Finmere by 19 runs in their Sunday friendly.

Buckingham scored a useful 143 from 37 over thanks mainly to a fine 50 from opener Tim Riley, who retired, and Mike Taylor 47 not out. Bob Hutt (18) and Adam King(11) also reached double figures. For Finmere Habib took 4-19.

In reply Finmere made a good start through Smith(50), who retired, and Chaffer(20) and despite Mike Geelan (17) scoring useful runs they collapsed to 124 all out.

Adam King took 4-13 and Kallan Peshavaria 2-34.

Buckingham v Soulbury

Buckingham Sunday XI lost their friendly match against Soulbury in a low scoring match.  Soulbury won the toss and batted and made a slow start against Town’s young spinners Albert Johnson 2-18 and Alistair Martin 0-32 both from eight overs each.  Keeper Adam King took two good catches and skipper Hutt’s smart catch saw top scorer Kieron Sear(48) dismissed and another fine catch by Ade Johnson saw J.Carter(13) out.  Soulbury made a modest 139-8.  Dane Tuttlebee 2-30 and Kevin D’Silva 2-22 were tidy and there was a wicket apiece for Ryan Freshwater an

Buckingham Town Sunday XI v Stony Stratford - Sun 9 Sept

Buckingham Town’s Sunday XI batted first and were soon in trouble.  Stony’s Josh Whitehead bowled an excellent line and moved the ball off the seam to capture 3 quick wickets.   C Jolley also bowled well early on as Town dropped to 32-5.  A sixth wicket partnership of 50 between Ryan Freshwater (43) and Adam King (8) began the recovery.  Captain Ade Johnson (40) and Alex O’Dell (20) added 50 for the eighth wicket to ensure a competitive total was set.

In a match in the memory of former Club Stalwart Ron Tompkins current and former players came together on the hottest day of the year and had a super day’s cricket.  Town’s current Club captain Jason Ell’s side lost by two runs to the select XI skippered by Steve Beck.  Beck’s squad batted first and made a poor start and only Lee Tomlinson(30) looked in form as several other Premier League players were soon dismissed.       Bob Hutt(23) helped the recovery along and Robin Pritchard improved matters with a splendid 58 before
